Workshops June 13

Two workshops will be held on June 13, 2011. More information on the workshops will be available on this page soon.

International Workshop on Smart Materials and Related Technologies 2011
Monday, June 13, 2011, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Oregon State University
Organized by Active Material Systems Technical Section (AMS-TS) of JSME M&P Division
Organizers: Hiroshi Asanuma (Chiba University), Yasubumi Furuya (Hirosaki University), Satoshi Kishimoto (National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS)) and Wataru Nakao (Yokohama National University)

The organizers have planned one-day workshop for discussion on the next roadmap of Smart/Intelligent Materials and Structural Systems including some new directions such as development of Smart Mechanical Material Systems, applications to Manufacturing and Processing fields, and so on. The organizers hope that you will understand what smart materials are, will be able to imagine your own smart materials, and might be changed by attending this workshop!

Sustainable Nanomanufacturing Workshop
Monday, June 13, 2011, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM
Oregon State University, CH2M HILL Alumni Center
Affiliated with the 2011 ASME/SME/JSME Manufacturing Research Conference

Organizers:
Gregory S. Herman (Oregon State University)
Chih-hung Chang (Oregon State University)

Featured Speaker:
Dr. Charalabos C. Doumanidis (National Science Foundation)

The development of nanomanufacturing practices that minimize risk to environmental ecosystems and human health while also promoting economic growth are at the forefront of the next generation of international manufacturing technologies. This workshop provides an overview of nanomanufacturing technologies and the integration of sustainable processes with the initial focus on nanomaterials synthesis and their incorporation in renewable energy.

Preliminary Program

  • Overview of Oregon Process Innovation Center for Sustainable Solar Cell Manufacturing
  • Overview of challenges in Sustainable Nanomanufacturing from National Laboratory and Industrial Perspectives
  • Opportunities in Sustainable Nanomanufacturing
