We are writing to seek your sponsorship of the 2011 ASME/SME/JSME Manufacturing Research Conference, happening June 13–17, at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon (http://msec-namrc-icmp.org/). This first-ever conference of its kind will unite the international manufacturing community by combining the flagship manufacturing research conferences from ASME, SME and JSME.
At this conference, over 400 academic and industrial researchers will gather to learn about state-of-the-art research in material science, material processing and manufacturing systems. Topics include:
- new alloys, composites and foams for aerospace, automotive and biomedical applications and material processing research for these materials including high speed machining, electrically-assisted forming, advanced casting and semisolid forming, powder processing and many other non-traditional machining, casting, forming and joining methods;
- new micro and nanomanufacturing technologies for emerging clean energy, health care and nanotechnology markets including ultra-precision milling and forming; chemical mechanical planarization; micro-scale molding, joining, assembly and material handling; microreactor-assisted nanoparticle synthesis; nanostructured film deposition; and spark plasma sintering to name a few; and
- lifecycle engineering which highlights opportunities for reducing energy and carbon requirements in manufacturing through nanomaterial applications in metalworking fluids, braze pastes and advanced cutting tool coatings among others.
The conference will feature speakers and panelists from internationally-renowned companies, academic institutions, and research organizations. Attendees will engage in poster sessions, panel discussions and workshops discussing the emergence of arrayed microchannel manufacturing and sustainable nanomanufacturing including opportunities and challenges in addressing near-term solar cell and clean energy needs.
