Announcement

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to Oregon State University for the first-ever manufacturing research conference combining the flagship manufacturing conferences from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) and Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME).

Sixth Annual ASME International Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference (MSEC)
MSEC is the foremost annual forum sponsored by the Manufacturing Engineering Division (MED) of ASME to disseminate the most recent results in manufacturing research and development through both technical papers and panel sessions.

39th Annual SME North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC)
NAMRC is the premier international forum for applied research and industrial applications in manufacturing and design. Sponsored by the North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME, global academic and industrial leaders in manufacturing attend this conference to interact with each other and advance the field.

2011 JSME/ASME International Conference on Materials and Processing (ICM&P)
ICM&P 2011 is an international conference co-sponsored by the Materials and Processing (M&P) Division of the JSME and ASME MED to promote international collaboration in advancing manufacturing science and technology. In 2011, ICM&P coincides with the 19th JSME Materials and Processing Conference (M&P 2011). The conference is recognized as the premier meeting on materials and processing technology in Japan.

In 2011, these three conferences will be collocated at Oregon State University situated between the scenic Cascade Mountains and the rugged Oregon coast. While Oregon is noted for its beauty, manufacturing technology has helped it transition from a resource-based economy to a high-technology economy over the past two decades. The Portland high technology corridor, known as the Silicon Forest, now has over 1,000 companies with more than 30 major microelectronic subsidiaries and corporate leaders like Boeing, Precision Cast Parts and Daimler Trucks to name a few.

Join over 400 researchers and manufacturers from around the world to learn about manufacturing materials, material processing and manufacturing systems including:

  • new alloys, composites and foams for aerospace, automotive and biomedical applications and material processing research for these materials including high speed machining, electrically-assisted forming and other non-traditional machining methods;
  • new micro and nanomanufacturing technologies for emerging clean energy, health care and nanotechnology markets such as ultra-precision milling and forming; chemical mechanical planarization; micro-scale molding, joining, assembly and material handling;
  • microreactor-assisted nanoparticle synthesis; nanostructured film deposition; and spark plasma sintering to name a few.
    lifecycle engineering which highlights opportunities for reducing energy and carbon requirements in manufacturing through nanomaterial applications in metalworking fluids, braze pastes and advanced cutting tool coatings among others.

Engage in poster sessions, panel discussions and workshops discussing the emergence of arrayed microchannel manufacturing and sustainable nanomanufacturing for clean energy and health care markets. The highly interactive format of the conference encourages the exploration of collaborative research and technology transfer and promotes professional networking.

All accepted papers will be published in strictly peer-reviewed volumes offering wide-reaching access and impact to your research.

Area wineries, tours and hikes will provide conference attendees a multitude of pre or post conference activities. Come mingle with your manufacturing colleagues and explore the beauty of the Pacific Northwest!

Sincerely,

Brian K. Paul
